DROGBA LINKED TO QPR
New Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Hughes has made Chelsea striker Didier Drogba his biggest target in January transfer window.
Hughes has been promised a transfer kitty of £ 30 million to save the club from relegation and take it to a respectable position, and the Ivory Coast international striker is his first choice.
DROGBA CHASES NEW DEAL
He might be ruled out from playing for Chelsea through both suspension and injury (one he has had his arm surgery done), but that hasn't stopped striker Didier Drogba from asking for a new contract!
With his current deal set to expire in June, Didier is keen to tie himself to the Stamford Bridge club for another two years, though he's unsure whether he will actually be offered a deal of that length, given that he is now 33 years old.
Chelsea would be loathe to lose him for nothing though, so a new deal should be hammered out over the next few weeks.
CHELSEA HOLDS DROGBA
The Ivorian's future has been in doubt since the arrival of Fernando Torres and the emergence of Daniel Sturridge, but the veteran forward is not expected to leave. Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay has calmed fears that Didier Drogba will leave the club and predicts he will still be at Stamford Bridge come the start of the new season.
DROGBA SHOWS TORRES THE WAY
Didier Drogba showed the way that Fernando Torres should be playing as he came from the bench and scored against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Struggling Spaniard can make bigger impact as a substitute against Manchester United, but the Ivorian powerhouse must be the one to lead the Blues' line on Tuesday. There are some big beasts in the Chelsea jungle. But there is only one top dog – and that is Didier Drogba.
Following Fernando Torres’ deadline-day switch, a pack of feared predators have been queuing up to bare their teeth at the point of the attack.
DROGBA FEARS FOR FUTURE
Didier Drogba has said that he is fearing for his Chelsea future. He did not start Tuesday’s Champions League tie away to FC Copenhagen with the Chelsea manager afforded the excuse that the striker, who is 33 next month, needed to be rested after playing 120 minutes against Everton in the FA Cup last Saturday.
With almost a full week’s rest and preparation before what Terry termed a “must-win” encounter at home to United on Tuesday, then Ancelotti will have all his big-name strikers – Drogba, Nicolas Anelka and Fernando Torres – in the same condition.
DROGBA DROPPED
Chelsea's striker Didier Drogba was replaced by Fernando Torres against Fulham. The Blues signed the Spanish forward from Liverpool in January, breaking the British transfer record with a move believed to be in the region of £50 million.
The former AC Milan boss had played Nicolas Anelka, Drogba and Torres in his starting line-up against Liverpool, but the trio failed to make a significant impact in the game.
After the loss, Ancelotti had maintained that he would continue with all three forwards, but is now said to be considering the idea of dropping Drogba.
DROGBA BACK TO HIS BEST
Didier Drogba was back to its best against Bolton Wanderers in the Premier league and he helped Chelsea to win. Drogba paved the way for an emphatic 4-0 victory against Bolton at the Reebok Stadium on Monday night with a magnificent opening goal from 30 yards. Florent Malouda, Nicolas Anelka and Ramires also got in on the scoring act to hand the team their first win on the road since October.
DROGBA TO BE DROPPED
Didier Drogba could be dropped from the side as a result of his poor form against Blackburn Rovers. According to the Daily Mirror, the Italian hopes the move will be the catalyst for a revival in the striker's goal scoring form.
When Ancelotti left the big Ivorian out of his starting line-up for the Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur before Christmas, it sparked an angry respone from Didier Drogba who came on as a substitute to score.
DROGBA THE DANGER MAN
Didier Drogba represents the biggest threat for Arsenal in today's clash at the Emirates. Didier Drogba has scored 13 goals in his last 13 matches against Arsenal and the Gunners simply do not seem to have an answer to the Ivorian’s pace and power. Drogba scored the opener when the sides met in October, in a 2-0 win for the Blues, and he is 6/1 at Free Bet to get the first of the game when Chelsea travel to the Emirates on Monday.
DROGBA AIMS FOR WINS
Didier Drogba has said that key victories against Tottenham and the Manchester United will turn their season around. Chelsea have won just two matches out of the last eight in all competitions, a slump that threatens to end their hopes of retaining the league title they won, along with the FA Cup, last season.
