Drogba’s Phoenix Rising had to settle with a draw against Real Monarchs

On June 24 of 2017, Phoenix Rising locked horns with the table toppers Real Monarchs for a United Soccer League match which concluded in a 1-1 draw.

This encounter was extremely hyped up as the team that is co-owned by Didier Drogba had to face off with a squad that has been going through an impressive form in the top section of the standings.

The 1st goal of the match was scored at the 12th minute through Daniel Haber as he gave Real Monarchs an early lead but Omar Bravo tied it up at the 45th mark and the scoreboard remained the same throughout the remainder of the match.

Fans of Phoenix Rising were excited on the idea of seeing Didier Drogba scoring a goal against the top club in the United Soccer League which is currently Real Monarchs and anticipated that the former Chelsea star would score a goal but unfortunately, despite coming into the pitch from the very start of the match, he failed on making his mark on the scoreboard.

Didier Drogba had scored twice against Swope Park as his team faced off with them 6 days prior to Phoenix Rising’s game with Real Monarchs.

Supporters of the 39 year old Ivorian attacker were hoping that Drogba could continue his momentum and score a few more goals but it did not happen, Phoenix Rising still managed to salvage 1 point against Real Monarchs which is the more important thing as the team which is being coached by Patrice Carteron are doing everything they can in order to keep themselves in the middle section of the United Soccer League and avoid dropping down any further.
