Napoli hitman Victor Osimhen has drawn comparison with Ivorian legend Didier Drogba after his brace earned the Italians a 2-2 draw in their Europa League group stage opener against home team Leicester City. Premier League side Leicester City were on the way to an impressive win until Osimhen intervened with two goals to earn the share of the points for his team.
Signori is one of the highest goalscorers in the history of the Italian Serie A and he knows all about putting the ball in the back of the net. According to him, Nigerian footballer Osimhen is similar to Didier Drogba in terms of his predatory instincts. Signori stated that the 22-year-old attacker has everything: speed, power, technique, elevation and strength.
Napoli paid a club-record fee to sign Osimhen from Lille last summer but the club’s fans didn’t see the best of him mainly due to injuries. The Italians paid an initial fee of €70m for the Nigerian and it could increase to €80m depending on add-ons. Osimhen scored seven goals in 27 games for Napoli in all competitions last season and he has already matched that goal tally this season in just six games.
Ex-VFL Wolfsburg striker Osimhen has seven goals in six games for Napoli in all competitions this term including five goals in five league games. Only Lazio striker Ciro Immobile (six goals) has scored more goals than Osimhen in the Italian Serie A this season. The Nigerian took his tally to five league goals with a brace in the 4-0 away win over Sampdoria with one goal in each half as Napoli returned to the Italian Serie A summit.
