The Premier League duo of Arsenal and Manchester United are keen to sign French international striker Moussa Dembele from Lyon when the summer transfer window reopens in the coming months according to the latest reports coming out of the French media. The specific report from Foot Mercato stated that Manchester United and Arsenal could go head-to-head for Dembele who has been compared to Chelsea legend Didier Drogba. The former Fulham and Celtic star was compared to Didier Drogba due to the similarities in their playing style. Ex-Marseille, Galatasaray and Chelsea hitman Drogba was renowned for his physical attributes during his playing days and the aforementioned Dembele is also a physical striker.

Frenchman Dembele could follow in the footsteps of Didier Drogba by leaving a French Ligue 1 team to play in the Premier League with the Gunners and the Red Devils interested in his services. Drogba spent years at Le Mans, Guingamp and then Marseille in French football before the chance to sign for Chelsea came in 2004. The Ivorian football icon spent one season at Marseille before signing for Chelsea in a £24m deal which was a record for the West London club at the time.

Lyon striker Dembele will have one year left on his contract at Lyon and the club will have to decide to sell him or keep him till his contract expires as a new Lyon contract has not been given to him. Lyon will reportedly do a deal for Dembele for around £25m which is a good deal considering the costly state of the transfer market these days.

Dembele was away from Lyon last season as he spent some time on loan at Atletico Madrid, but he was unable to showcase his talents due to injuries and Covid-19. He has found the back of the net ten times in 20 league games since returning to Lyon.
