FIF ELECTIONS: DROGBA TO WAIT AGAIN

Ivorian football legend Didier Drogba will have to wait once again to know whether he will be able to contest for the Ivory Coast football federation (FIF) elections after they were postponed. The Chelsea legend is bidding to become the Ivory Coast football federation president.


The elections were originally planned for September 2020, but ongoing issues with the eligibility of candidates including Didier Drogba have delayed the process for 18 months. PALACE KEEN ON SIGNING MARSEILLE STAR

Premier League side Crystal Palace have been seriously linked with a move for highly rated Marseille striker BambaDieng. The Palace interest in the Senegalese international labelled the new Didier Drogba was revealed by French publication La Provence as it was revealed that several Premier League teams are on his trail.

DROGBA, RONALDO EXPECTED IN NIGERIA SOON

Sports philanthropist Noah Dallaji has revealed that Manchester United talisman Cristiano Ronaldo will visit Nigeria in June 2022. It would be his first visit to the West African nation and in the company of other stars including Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.

Dallaji is the founder and President of ACTDF (Africa Children Talent Discovery Foundation) and he talked about the imminent visit of Cristiano Ronaldo, Didier Drogba and other football stars at a press conference last month.

DROGBA, A FOOTBALL IDOL FOR SANCHO

Manchester United summer signing Jadon Sancho has admitted that he supported Premier League rivals Chelsea while he was growing up and that Ivorian football icon Didier Drogba was one of his idols.

HOW RONALDO MATCHED DROGBA’S RECORD REVEALED

Cristiano Ronaldo has been a consistent source of goals since he returned to Manchester United this summer. The Portuguese attackerrecently matched the record of Didier Drogba as the oldest player to score a goal and an assist in the Premier League.

MANE TARGETS MORE GOALS AFTER CENTURY

Liverpool man Sadio Mane is targeting more goals after he reached a century of Premier League goals penultimate weekend. The Senegalese international became only the third African to reach 100 goals in the Premier League after Didier Drogba and Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah. Mane reached a century of goals when he opened the floodgate of goals in the big win over newcomers Watford.

Mane, 29, scored the opening goal in the 5-0 away win over the Hornets for his century of goals as he emulated Didier Drogba and Mohamed Salah. SPARTAK END NAPOLI UNBEATEN RUN

Dutch winger Quincy Promeswas the star of the show as Spartak Moscow inflicted a first defeat of the season on Italian Serie A leaders Napoli in the Europa League group stage. Ex-Sevilla attacker Promes scored two times in the second half as his Russian Premier League side came from a goal down to beat hosts Napoli. The Italians ended on the wrong side of the five-goal thriller.

OSIMHEN DRAWS COMPARISON WITH DROGBA

Napoli hitman Victor Osimhen has drawn comparison with Ivorian legend Didier Drogba after his brace earned the Italians a 2-2 draw in their Europa League group stage opener against home team Leicester City. Premier League side Leicester City were on the way to an impressive win until Osimhen intervened with two goals to earn the share of the points for his team.

DROGBA: LUKAKU WILL IMPROVE CHELSEA’S ATTACK

It looks like Chelsea legend Didier Drogba still cannot get over the fact that the Blues have wrapped up the signing of their former striker Romelu Lukaku this summer. The big Belgian striker has sealed his return to Stamford Bridge in some fine style after winning the Italian Serie A league title with Inter Milan last season and although it started as just a rumor this summer, he is now a Chelsea player once again and is hungry to succeed this time around. Lukaku joined the Blues when he was a teenager after being signed from Belgian league outfit Anderlecht but was not really given the chance to play for the first team and kept going out on loan.

He was first sent to West Bromwich Albion to spend one season on loan where he impressed after catching the eye of his suitors by scoring a couple of goals. A successful spell with the Baggies earned him a move to Everton but this time, it was not another loan move that was eventually turned into a permanent one after the Everton bosses confirmed that he would be a handy signing.

SECRET TO DROGBA’S SUCCESS REVEALED

Didier Drogbahad attained legendary status by the time his first spell at Chelsea ended in 2012. He left Chelsea shortly after helping the club to fulfil its ambition of winning the UEFA Champions League. Didier Drogba returned two years later for one more season under the second Jose Mourinho managerial era at Stamford Bridge.

Few would have predicted the impact that Didier Drogba had in West London when he signed from Marseille in 2004. Chelsea paid around £24m to sign the Ivorian striker. In a chat with Sky Sports presenter Chris Kamara sometime ago, Chelsea kit man Garry Grey revealed a major superstition that Drogba had before games and how it worked well for him on the way to becoming a Blues legend.According to him, Drogba had a superstition that made him stuff his boots with newspaper.
