CHELSEA AND SPURS HANDED BOOST AS STAR DROPS DROGBA AND KANE HINTS

Victor Osimhen has alerted Chelsea and Tottenham after hinting that he could be interested in a move to the Premier League at some point in the future. The Napoli frontman listed Didier Drogba and Harry Kane as his sources of inspiration in helping him shape his game and refused to rule out following in their footsteps. The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to England ever since he caught the eye at Lille as a youngster. Osimhen was heavily tipped to join Arsenal or Manchester United before signing for the Serie A outfit in 2020, with the Gunners reportedly having a £76million offer turned down.

The Nigeria international has become a mainstay in the Partenopei frontline, scoring 24 goals in 51 Serie A games. And those admirers from Europe continue to circle as Napoli attempt to ward off potential suitors. When asked about which strikers he enjoys watching, Osimhen chose to name Chelsea legend Drogba as his idol growing up. And perhaps surprisingly giving their distinctive playing styles, he singled out Tottenham talisman Kane as his modern influence, fuelling suggestions he could at one point fancy a move to the UK. TODD BOEHLY HAS DECISION TO MAKE ON CHELSEA DUO INCLUDING OWN DROGBA

Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly will need to make the futures of midfield pair Jorginho and N’Golo Kante key to his busy summer plans. The duo are just two of several players whose contracts expire at the end of next season, but they are the most important to boss Thomas Tuchel among those who could leave Stamford Bridge in 2023.

Boehly has already made strides since his consortium acquired Chelsea from Roman Abramovich in May. Despite not yet making a signing, the Blues have been linked with several high-profile targets and need to replace the likes of Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Romelu Lukaku.  But part of the American’s acitivity over the coming months could involve resolving next year’s problems as several stars’ contracts expire, with the most important being Jorginho and Kante. A further eight players could leave the club for free in 12 months. Continue reading “TODD BOEHLY HAS DECISION TO MAKE ON CHELSEA DUO INCLUDING OWN DROGBA”

Jonathan Spector backs Christian Pulisic to cover up Eden Hazard void

Former USA defender Jonathan Spector has said that Christian Pulisic may not replace Eden Hazard at Chelsea but he has the potential to become a top-notch player for the west London giants. The 20-year-old was purchased by the Blues during the 2019 winter transfer window but he was thereafter loaned back to Borussia Dortmund for the remainder of the 2018/19 season.

As such, he has yet to make an impression among the Blues faithful and the same could be delayed for some time with his participation at the Gold Cup. Speaking to Goal.com, Spector told that Pulisic has yet to reach the level of Hazard on the professional scale and he has time on his side to become as good as the Belgium international.

He said:”I don’t think he’s quite at that level just yet and there’s no shame in that, Hazard is a brilliant player! But he definitely has the potential if he continues to grow and improve. But with Hazard leaving it gives him an opportunity, as he needs to play games, especially at that age and at that stage of development. Being a 20-year-old playing for Chelsea is no small feat, so hopefully, he will get that opportunity and there is no telling how good he could be.”

Pulisic could not help USA win the Gold Cup after they succumbed to a final defeat at the hands of Mexico. Nonetheless, the tournament was a good experience for the attacker, who contributed three goals and three assists from six appearances. The young playmaker is now on a vacation following the international exploits but he could meet his new teammates towards the end of the month. Still, he may not be rushed into first-team action and may have to adjust to a bench role for a few games in order to adapt to the intensity of the Premier League.

Didier Drogba Praises Mohamed Salah After Breaking His Record

Former Chelsea star Didier Drogba has heaped praise on Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah after he broke his Premier League scoring record. The Egypt international recently netted his 30th league goal for the Reds in his debut season and he therefore became the highest scoring African Player in a single Premier League campaign, surpassing the 29 goals amassed by Drogba during the 2009/10 season.

Shortly after achieving this feat, Drogba hailed the attacker on Instagram, he wrote: “It was just a matter of days before this guy put my goal record as number one African Premier League top scorer to bed. So proud of you little bro, continue to put our continent as high as you can. Much love and blessings, like I said before The best is yet to come.” Continue reading “Didier Drogba Praises Mohamed Salah After Breaking His Record”

Chelsea can Cope with Hazard Departure, claims Desailly

Chelsea legend Marcel Desailly believes his former side can cope without the services of Eden Hazard in the future just like they did after the departure of fan favourite Didier Drogba. The Belgium international has been heavily tipped to join Real Madrid in the summer with his father having previously revealed that they are waiting on the interest from the European champions.

Speaking to Goal.com, Desailly was unperturbed over the current speculation, and feels the Blues can bring in a suitable replacement for Hazard, if need be in the future, he said: “We are still in the season, no player is more important than the club. Even when Drogba left, one of the great players, the spirit of the club continued. They continued to win. We will be sad if Hazard has to go but I am sure that Roman Abramovich is still passionate about the club. He will bring in another player that can allow the club to be at the same level again.”

Chelsea trio can emulate Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard and John Terry

Former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin believes his former club are heading in the right direction following their 1-0 triumph over Manchester United on Sunday afternoon. The Blues had come off a gruelling 3-0 defeat at the hands of AS Roma, but they managed to overcome any nervousness to clinch a solid win over Jose Mourinho’s men.

The Premier League holders could have easily doubled their lead on the day, but Antonio Conte will have been pleased with a solid performance against a direct league rival. In the aftermath of the game, Nevin believes the likes of Alvaro Morata, N’Golo Kante and Andreas Christensen could emulate the core reminiscent of the period where Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard and John Terry worked together.
